Does anyone know if its too late to apply to Midwestern? I emailed and they said they were "still" taking applications for the program, which made it sound like they have been taking them for a while.

Which Midwesern? Glendale or Chicago? I am pretty sure that Midwestern-Glendale just started to accept applications in either December or the first of the year for their MBS program.

I meant Chicago. Thanks for the info.

you should be good...they take applications until usually around late may/early june.

if you apply now you avoid the rush of students who transfer their applications in april/may when interview season is over.

if you have any more questions please feel free to ask 🙂

Thank you both again for the information. I have a question about my chances. I have a 3.42 GPA with a 3.00 sGPA and my best MCAT is a 27N but my most recent is a 24M. I have tons of medical experience and some good LORs. Do I have a decent chance of getting into this program? Also, do you all know when they start to send out acceptances? Thanks again.

they have rolling admissions and i am not quite sure when they will start accepting people into the program.

i got in with a 28P, 3.0 cum gpa grad work, 3.12 cum gpa ugrad and 3.7 sgpa. i have solid lors and about a year of volunteer experience that could be considered "medically related".

I think you have a chance if you apply now before the mad rush and you are not being considered among the zillion other applicants who are doing the same thing. That is what I did and I initially ended up on the waitlist...trust me when I say it made for a summer long of torture :scared:

Good luck 🙂

I have really good extra curriculars but I got in with a 3.2 overal 3.0 sgpa and 22P

I got in for the 2010 year with a 3.2 overall, 3.0sgpa, and a 23M. Are you guys living on campus or off? I'm from Wheaton IL so I'll be living at home.

I have a 2.9 GPA and a 21 MCAT, do you think I still have a chance? I havent heard anything from them yet but I just submitted my application last week. :xf:

if this was a one year program, I would be all over it...but 2 years is just too much time to take off right now,

Midwestern seems like a great school

why not the MA 1 year program then?

I think they only offer that one in Arizona.

they will be offering a similar program at the illinois campus but it will not be for a few more years, i think the first class will be 2011 or 2012

Is this program pretty competitive because I saw on the website that the class size (for the IL campus) is aroundd 30. How many people have gotten accepted already? Im getting anxious 😕

I think from the comments above that they started accepting in December.

If you're on hold or on the waiting list, I think the only thing left is to hope that spots open up.

Thanks for pointing that out, jslo85! I just got a letter saying that I am on the "alternate" list :/ ..at least its not a rejection. Does anyone know what the chances of being accepted from the waitlist is?

i have no clue what the overall chances are but i got in off the alternate list for this program almost 2 yrs ago....yeah i am an alternate kind of gal 😉

it is possible that someone in the class may get a late acceptance off of the alternate list at the med school of their choice etc.
i do not know if a letter of intent would help or not in this situation...hmmm.
perhaps submitting an update transcript after your grades are out and a recent lor from one of the profs who have you this semester/quarter that is familiar with your work?? i woudl also perhaps write dr.f and let him know that you are grateful for the alternate spot and why you are highly interested in the program if you do not do a formal loi.

i wish you luck...and although it may be rare, it does happen...i am living proof 🙂

my class started at 32
the first yrs this yr have 35

I applied to the program after receiving rejection from the DO program at CCOM. They offer an automatic application to BMS upon your request if you had applied to CCOM, and it was fast.
I requested to apply about 3~4 weeks ago, and I just received my acceptance letter.

They accept about 30~35 people, I believe, so it may not be too late yet.
And my undergrad GPA and MCAT are pretty bad.
So I really thank BMS at Midwestern for giving me the opportunity.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement! I'm definitely going to send an updated transcript and maybe a letter of rec. Thanks everyone 🙂

I was accepted but will be withdrawing. Hope one of you gets my spot!

Im not sure if I did well enough on my orgo II class so I dont know if itd be wise to send in an updated transcript. Anyone got any advice on what I could do to improve my "alternate" status? 🙁

I would send an updated transcript anyway. I did not do well in Org II either but was accepted. Though I withdrew for another program.

I just submitted my application and was told that they are still accepting them so I hope things turn out well. The class size does seem small but I hope I get in. Does anyone know how many people who complete the program end up getting admitted into CCOM?

Oh that's good to know. I don't think I will get in because it's so late in the cycle but one can hope right? Thanks.

how do i send my mcat score to midwestern and other smp's?

contact the school, there are a few ways
gtown does it through the MCAT THx service
cinci and tufts want the verification code sent
some of them want a printout of it with the verification code

how long after i'm complete will it take to get a decision.

It was about 3 weeks til I heard I was on the alternate list.

Any more acceptances/rejections/alternate list? I still am on the alternate list 🙁 I just wanna get in so bad!!!!!!

I was told by admissions today that applications were reviewed this week and acceptances should be going out soon, perhaps by next week. Anyone on here already in and intend on attending?

any clue on how many spots are left?

is there a facebook page for this years class?

I don't think there is a facebook group yet. So how many here are attending in the fall?

Hey everyone,

I am renting out a large 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and a walk - in closet in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath house near MWU. It is in a great, safe neighborhood near shopping (close to Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Fries, Dollar stores, everything you can think of).

House is only 3 miles (7 minute drive from campus) and I am asking for only 400 dollars to move in a month. This includes your rent. A parking spot is offered on the driveway. You will be asked to submit a 200 dollar refundable security deposit for a 12 month lease. Move in will be around August (we can decide this together).

Compare this to 600+ rent for living on campus.

Includes: washer, microwave, refrigerator (all new). You will be room-ing with me, a student at MWU. I'm really chill, will let you do about anything, and will give you the peace and quiet you need to study.

Call me at 323-475-8628 if you are interested.

For those accepted, when does orientation start? Also, I know this is a repeating question but does anyone know what the class size is at? Thanks!

I think it's the last week of august...

thats why i was trying to see if there was a fb page so I could get a gauge on how full the class was. I know the admissions committee meets at the conclusion of every month, so if you're on the alternate list, I don't expect there would be any movement until August, assuming they're still getting applications.

Lucky, are you re-taking the mcat?

I was planning on taking it in August so I wont get my score in time to send it in. Will you be attending this fall?

I am still waiting to hear back from them. Are they still accepting?

I think so, admissions meets at the end of each month so you should hear pretty soon, by the end of nxt week, i would venture to guess
