Midwestern Prerequisites

Ok...before anyone criticizes me - I made a mistake and applied to Midwestern without all of the required prerequisites. Specifically, I didn't take a microbiology lab...only the course. I graduated from undergrad in 2003, so taking the lab is not exactly ideal at this point. I know I should have read their prereq courses before applying, but I didn't and I figured I wasted my money.

But, they sent me the supplemental fee email that said [FONT=verdana, ariel]"We recently received your application from AADSAS and want to thank you for considering Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine for your dental school education. Your academic credentials meet our minimum requirements and you are eligible to move to the next phase of the admissions process."😕

Is this for real or do they send this to everyone to get the additional $$$? Should I send in the supp fee??

you should give an admissions advisory a call and see if the lab is required of you.

I got an interview invite without having completed all the pre req's. Some schools just require that you finish them before the start of class, but they'll interview ou without them. I would go for it. They can extend you an offer of admissions, and then you can decide how much you really want to go there, and if it's worth taking that one class. I'd go for it. Actually, I AM going for it, lol... if I get in, I have to take Anatomy and the lab. SWEET

By academic credentials they probably mean minimum gpa (2.75), but I dont believe it applies to the pre-reqs. For the pre-reqs you're are expected to have those done by the time you would matriculate here in Aug. I was in the same boat at you last year, needed microbiology lab, so I had to take that over the summer before we started here in late August. Good luck!

I think microbiology lab is only 1 credit hour. So it shouldn't be too expensive. But like someone above said, you would have to complete the requirements before matriculation and if micro lab is the only requirement you are missing, you should definitely go for it..
