Just wanted to share this with everyone.
I was studying at a coffee shop when a man asked me what material I was studying. I am a pretty friendly guy but wanted to study so just looked up and said "genetics" and went back to it till I heard him ask "Oh, what for? Doctor or something?". I replied "yeah" then said "No" when he asked me if I supported socialized medicine.
Then he flipped out on me. He started yelling called me all sorts of crazy names (at this point I was packing up and leaving). He was saying something about how he cannot afford his cancer treatments and doctors are greedy b*stards. It was a crazy experience. During his rant he said he was a liberal and the US was doomed because of people like me.
He followed me out to the parking lot where he lit up a cig (LOL).
Anyone deal with guys like this in their practice? How would you handle the situation as a doctor? How do we educate this population who believe they deserve a free ride?
