Anyone familiar with the Milwaukee area. A friend of mine will be moving there for fellowship and is looking for a very hip, laid back, great restaurants, cool people young area in the town. Does that exist in Milwaukee, WI???

one pretty cool area of milwuakee with most of the population being in their early 20s to 30s would be Brady street, im not sure of the hundred block but i know the intersection of like north and brady or oakland and brady is the general area. there are also some pretty cool places off water street downtown such as the Blatz building which is really cool and walking distance to all of the bars right on water street.

Generally speaking the 'eastside' of town sounds like what your friend is looking for (Brady is part of it). It is closest to the college campus and has plenty of taverns but also more upscale places. Housing stock ranges from older stuff in wood-frame buildings to fancy condos looking out on the lake.

An area developing into something interesting is the 'Third Ward'. It is an old warehouse quarter which is in the process of turning into condos, restaurants and some artsy stuff (theater center etc.).
