So, lately in my UWorld blocks, I've almost been thinking more about my mentality than my knowledge. Like, if I do well in a block, I'm like "hell yeah, I was focused, I was determined, I thought hard about every answer, I didn't let myself get tricked." And, if I do poorly, I'm like "dangit, I was lazy and cocky; I hardly read the answer choices; I picked things automatically", and so on. Amusingly, it seems like I blame myself more often for a bad attitude than for insufficient knowledge.

Would you say this level of scrutiny regarding "test-taking attitude" is important? Like, ideally, I'd know all the answers down pat. But to what extent do you have to rely on things like focus and determination to get the right answers? How big of a deal was this during your study experience? What about during the exam itself?

It's just practice, the more questions you do with right technique, the more positive your mental state will be. Anybody's scores will go up with practice, it's just how much time is it going to take. My UWorld score were awful when I first started and with more practice and knowledge, they are moving upward at a rate I am happy about.
