minimal requirement for GPA?

I got the ECE report, my GPA is only 3.17🙁. very frustrated since it is much lower than the average and lower than expected. My test date is coming soon...and I don't know what I can do with such a low GPA. Just wonder if there is any minimal requirement for GPA for application or addmission(3.5)? how GPA affects application and how bad the GPA I got? should I send to WES for re-evaluation?

hey why are u calling it a low gpa. it is above 3 and as such there is no minimum requirement as 3.5. u have a decent gpa so go ahead. if u want, u can get the wes done too as some schools do accept that too but there is nothing to worry about ur gpa. all the best to u.🙂

I agree with Minali.........your GPA depends on lot of factors........and what you have is a decent GPA...who said its low?
People get accepted with a GPA of 2.7 also........so do not worry........your over all performance counts.......not only GPA.
Relax and concentrate on your studies.

Thank you very much for your reply. I don't know the grading system of ECE, but I thought 3.0 is the lowest, which made me very upset! I know the over all performance counts, but I don't know how important GPA is in the whole package compared to TOEFL and Part1 score...

As far as I know, when you apply to any school the following is the sequenve they look at:-
NBDE scores
TOEFL
GPA
Work/Research exp

Correct me if I am wrong......

DEpending on this they call you for interview, and then all depends on how good your interview goes........and then you get into a Dental School....isnt it simple 🙂

Ignore the last part.......I was just trying to make you feel better......trust me on this YOUR GPA IS GOOD/DECENT

I'm asking this in this thread,what does work/research experience mean,ie,is it work exp in USA or in our own country, Yep,anywhere, it really does not matter, but preferably here as a dental assistant or something. They just want to know what you did.......you worked somewhere and yet got good marks during dentistry/after dentistry.....or you just sat and home and studied ........and scored good marks.....(that will be a bit unfair to other students, if you really think of it)...

also is it the same with research? yep, same with research, as long as you did something in between your dental school and applying to the schools out here, and you can significantly contribute to the diversity of the school, it doesnt matter......you should be able to sell your point...what you did and how is it going to be useful to the school?

Of course u need a license to work here,so does work exp mean other than working as a dentist- if its this country?Even if you worked as a dental assistant or observer is fine, though in some clinics you require dental assistant/radiology license

I hope somebody will explain this,well, I tried to explain this as simply as I could. The points mentioned are my opinions in general.

Hi,
you need to do "course-by-course" evaluation to get your GPA, not the general one. But the general one is OK for test application but later if you apply dental school, you still have to do "course-by-course"...
