Hypothetically speaking, can you get into a dental school in this situation:

2 Years of Community College Credit
2 Years of State College Credit
(Finished College in 5 Years)
2.75 GPA GPA
20 AA/TS/PAT ?

I have a bud who is pretty bright but had a rough time in college, I really want to help him get into dental school but I need to know that a 2.75 gpa won't kill him. (Yes I used the search function, but I would like more responses)

Hypothetically, your friend should be more interested in pursuing dentistry for himself than you are for him.

I just dont want him to get rejected everywhere and waste a year improving his stats.

Doc Toothache is right... if he's not interested in dentistry to the point where he would willingly do research on how to get in... chances are... d-schools won't invest in such a student.

But to answer your question briefly, in general 2.7 overall, gpa 2.7sci gpa, and above 17's on all DAT subjects. 1yr bio+lab, 1yr chem+lab, 1year physics+lab That should clear him in terms of being swept out by minimums.

And if that "Friend" happens to be you... i suggest taking the time to shadow + volunteer for dentist. good luck.

I think your friend won't get in unless he raises his gpa (more classes) and also does amazing on the DAT.

realistically speaking, what dental school is going to accept a student with 2.75 gpa?
Personally, even if you can ace the DAT, i dont think it is likely.
