Anyone going to Minnesota? I sent in my acceptance form yesterday. I am moving from California and I wanted someone to chat with.

Hi DVM2b,
I'll be going to Minnesota, too. I live in St Paul and work at the U, so I know the area well if you want advice about housing/transportation/etc. Are you going to the orientation on Friday?

I am not going to the orientation because I didn't know about it. I just sent in my intent to enroll yesterday. I was looking into housing in the Como Park area, is that nice? I was only in St. Paul two days for my interview so I wasn't able to look around much. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I lived in the St. Paul area for a few years (right around the St. Paul campus where the vet school is) and can vouch for the Como Park area. The residential areas around the actual Como Park are really nice. Smaller, slightly older homes, but the neighborhood has a really nice feel to it. Falcon Heights (slightly north of Como Park, but still very close to campus) is also a nice suburb to live in, with some very nice homes. My understanding is that a good number of University professors live in Falcon Heights.

Anyways, feel free to ask some general questions about the area. I'm already feeling a little homesick for St. Paul (moved to Milwaukee about 8 months ago) and would be happy to comment on it further.
