So I was having a pleasant conversation with my PGY2 about farmer's markets, fresh fruits and veggies, and gardening. I mentioned that I grew a lot of mint and she mentioned that she loved mint. So I said (as I might with anyone I was having such a conversation with), "Would you like some? I have tons." I agreed to bring her a good handful. Later, after I got home, I wondered about whether it would be considered "ethical" to do so while I'm on rotation with her. I also don't want my classmates to think I'm brown-nosing. I'm not - I did exactly what I might have done with anyone else.

What do you think?

How about offering some to everyone on the team - bring in several bunches

There is nothing unethical about giving mint to your resident. I'm not sure I've ever typed an odder sentence than that. Could it be misconstrued as flirtatious? Perhaps. But then again, it's mint, not jewelery.

Maybe the OP was using "mint" as a code-word for something else.

Bring in enough mint for everyone who might want the stuff. If you have "tons", this shouldn't be a problem. You will be forever known as "the minty fresh medical student".

Does the Pg2 have bad breathe? CUZ then Your classmates will probably thank you for bringing the pG2 some mint! 🙂

What type of mint? and can I have some too? I want mojitos!

Oh yeah, I'd love to give that PGY-2 some "mint". Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more.

Sorry. OP is a happily married chick and PGY-2 is a happily coupled chick. but go ahead and fantasize if you'd like.

Is it an ethical dilemma....... no. Bring some for the PGY2, bring some for anyone else you want. I went with my attending last weekend to the store and helped him buy a laptop. It wasn't an ethical dilemma to help him. It's just being friendly.

You don't ever bring people mint. It just isn't done!

ohh mann, that was funny. In all honesty, I was referring to illegal substances, but I'm always willing to take credit for a sleazy joke.

I have gotten far more enjoyment out of the responses to this thread than I think I would have if I were not so sleep-deprived. Thanks to all for giving me a little jolt of humor to get me through the 3 AM awakenings!!!😍

PS - I think in retrospect, the sleep deprivation may have been the cause of my putting up such a silly post in the first place🙄

is this the kind of mint that has enhanced properties after a flame is taken to it?

Seriously, though, get ur sleep under control. It can easily impact ur performance in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.

I think somebody maybe has a little crush going on, perhaps, just a little. It's ok, pretty normal. I'm no psych doc, but if you need a little proding I say go for it, ask her out.

Regarding the mint, I'm no expert on ethics, but I think you're good.

Definitely, get some sleep. I'm gonna get some too. gn
