Every year there are people who fall for the auntminnie rumor mill. Yes, some programs occasionally contact people, but to infer from not getting contacted that you don't have a shot at a particular program is a bit dumb.

People are so sensitive around here that instead of just telling us directly that you were ranked to match at MIR, you included this long story in order to "help future applicants." There is nothing wrong with telling other posters directly that you were ranked to match at MIR. You should be proud.

The sarcasm was realized. Note the 👍 . Bigfrank busted out a 250+ on Step 1. Unless he shat on every PD's feet in the country, I'm sure he matched.

I pissed off some (many?) people when I wrote on here that, contrary to auntminnie's postings, many top-notch programs contact their top applicants and many do not.

Specifically, when I did not match at MIR, I received a very polite but "WTF" email and they told me that I was in their "top 3" ranks and was curious why I did not rank MIR #1. I did not receive any post-interview correspondence from MIR.

I was merely trying to set the record straight and made many people inexplicably angry.
