So I have a class C misdemeanor trial pending for theft which is a crime of "questionable moral character" ie it looks REALLY bad in our profession. Was wondering if anyone has had anything similar when they applied to residency and did it affect their ability to match into their desired speciality.

Also does anyone know whether its better to go for deferred disposition/adjudication followed by expunction or to roll the dice at a jury trial with these sort of things?

Do not ask random Internet people - consult an attorney.

Troll thread, me boy.

I got busted for growing weed and it hasn't been a problem.

Until convicted, you're innocent. I wouldn't volunteer any information in your app other than what is required of you. If convicted, yeah, it'll probably hurt you.

Also, don't post this stuff on line. Talk with an attorney and NOBODY else about it.

I was charged for a ridiculous traffic misdemeanor back in college and I was worried that's I'd lose my international student status and get kicked out of the country (back to Canada). Luckily they negotiated down to a simple traffic violation. I would also recommend a lawyer to back you up and hopefully knock it down to an infraction or something. Good luck.
