Does anybody know how misdemeanors on your record work? I received a Minor in Possession of alcohol back when I was 19. Now I'm 21, and about to apply. Someone told me that as long as I've had no more incidents with the law, record would be wiped clean. Is this true?? By the way, I live in Texas.

I don't know the law of Texas, but some states allow records of an infraction like an MIP to be sealed. Most states realize people make mistakes when they are younger and give individuals the opportunity to grow and mature without having a minor transgression from years past to always haunt them. Ask an attorney.

better question is how are you planning to put this (incident) down in your application 😳) because no matter what, it will show up in your criminal background check.......

You might actually want to go in and check if it has been cleared from you record.

After spending a whole day doing research into my situation, I found out (like you mentioned) they seal the records if it's a one time offense, and since the case was deferred. Thanks for the help
