so Iam a foreign grad trying to obtain pharmacist license, failed NAPLEX twice and MPJE once.. i work part time and Iam a mother of two, looking for advice from people with similar experience. also Iam thinking about doing some informatics or IT degree to help with finding jobs in pharmacy other than retail, is it worth it ?

Not being an ass here - have you considered Amazon delivery? Post office? Working at health and welfare? School bus driver? Buying AMC/GME stock?

The AMC/GME thing may be a seasonal job no one knows. these are the hot jobs in the US right now - interesting times….

Yeah really. You're aspiring to win a prize that is really no prize at all. A gilded turd is still ultimately a turd. Cut your losses and save yourself further suffering. Pharmacy is dead. Accept it and move on.

What losses besides time (opportunity cost)? OP is a foreign grad which most likely means no 200K student loan.

Isn't that enough to lose when there is essentially NOTHING to gain but misery?

I don't get the post's title? Why strive for something that you know will make you miserable?
I'd focus on passing the pharmacy boards first before starting the process of learning a brand new topics of informatics and IT.

LOL....I keep imagine pharmacy these days as a pinata. A pinata filled with turds. It might look bright and shiny on the outside. So there MUST be something good on the inside, right? So you beat through 7 years of school...maybe years of residency as well. Even pass the boards. Not fun, but there will be a reward when it opens, right? But then- finally- it DOES open. And the joke is on you- there is the reality of it all. So take the advice of those who already beat the crap out of the pinata. There's NOTHING good inside.

If you enjoy working with computer systems I'd say it would be a good idea, but focus on passing the naplex first. It is not a good sign if you have failed it twice. But as long as you pass it, no one cares how many times you've tried. At my hospital we have a few IT focused pharmacists and they seem to really be into computers outside of work also.

Being a computer enthusiast myself, if I had to start over and do something in pharmacy I would probably do that.
