One of my friends recently applied to some medical schools (M.D. and D.O.) in Texas and found that he had not taken a semester of statistics. Being a pre-req for most of the medical schools which he applied for, will admissions still consider his application even though he has one pre-req missing? Thanks in advance.

Will the med schools that require this inform him that he'll have to do this?

Yes. My acceptance letter listed the one pre-req class I hadn't taken and said I needed to successfully pass that class to maintain my acceptance and matriculate. Some schools will have grade requirements too, above the usual "pass with a C." Something to look into. I'd be surprised if any acceptance that came didn't have very detailed instructions.
