I took the CS a week ago and I'm freaking out about the mistakes I made. I'm applying to a competitive program and I don't want this test to be the thing keeping me from matching! I ran out of time and didn't counsel 4 patients on my assessment, didn't put on gloves until halfway through an exam, didn't ask a patient about bloody stools or colonoscopy when it was crucial, forgot to write that vitals are normal and lung exam is normal for 4 patients, only mentioned a rash but didn't work it up, put std on my differential but didn't order cultures and may have even forgotten the pelvic and rectal exam, was all over the place with one patient to a point she looked at me funny and she was also one i ran out of time on! Anyone else with similar mistakes and still pass? :scared: THANKS!

I passed my CS back in 2006, but I don't remember putting gloves on being mandatory as long as you wash your hands, unless you have some obvious dermatological condition.

I didn't manage to counsel my first case due to time constraints, my writing was horrible and I think I never mentioned normal lung exam unless it was pertinent. I don't think I forgot anything else though.

I don't know if things changed though.

I am also worried about the mistakes I made. I somehow was able to diagnose simple things as rare things, though I have some comfort in that the actual diagnosis was 2nd in my differential in these cases. On one patient note I totally had asked questions, did an exam, and ordered a work-up to evaluate for anemia as a potential diagnosis...and then forgot to write 'anemia' on my differential list. ouch. I did get to counsel all the patients at least. My handwriting totally sucks, which is something I'm very worried about. I'm too slow at typing otherwise I would have done it. Blah. Stupid test better not ruin my chances either since my school makes us take it so early.
