Mizzou, UT Austin, or University of Miami for pre-med? I have stuggled with grades in high school, esp. the humanities based courses. While good at science courses, I am not amazing and have not always managed to get As. I am worried that my gpa in college will screw up my med school apps. Which college will be the easiest to maintain a high gpa in? I know Mizzou is lower ranked, but does that necessarily mean that its courses will be easier?

Aiming for what's easiest is not a good mindset to have as you enter college. You should learn to face academic challenges, as your studies will only get harder once you start medical school. It's possible that you haven't really learned how to study yet. Once you get to college, try out some different methods and see what works best. If you start to struggle in a class, make use of office hours, tutoring, study groups, etc. If you're from MO then Mizzou seems like a good option (cheap), but it's also about fit.

Also, I mentioned this to you in another thread yesterday, but please make this your avatar:

I would try to look into which of the schools have the best opportunities pre-meds (undergraduate research, EMS services on campus, etc.). Just one thing to consider

Despite sucking at football (sic 'em, bitches), UT is a great school for pre-meds, and if you're a Texas resident or can gain residency status, Texas is chock full of good medical schools for you to try to get in to.

Won Red River, doesn't matter.

Just sayin'.

I'm inclined to say Mizzou, but I'd rather be cooling at University of Miami, ya know?

Serious though, Mizzou has a lot of opportunities for premeds.

I have excluded Mizzou from the list but have added UCSD back on. I hope I'm not coming off as lazy. I just want to go to a school that will not be too stressful (I don't want to feel like I'm fighting against the school which is actively and persistently attempting to weed me or the students are only there to climb above everyone else). Money is not a factor and I believe I will be able to find volunteer/research opportunities at any of these colleges.

I couldn't find any data on U Miami, FL. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

UCSD and UMiami both have strong medical programs. Not sure which'll be cheaper.

I went to the University of Miami for my freshman year of undergrad. I transferred out for personal reasons but that's a different story. It was a great school and it had lots of pre-med opportunities. There are lots of shadowing, volunteer, and research opportunities nearby. Do you have any specific questions about it?

One thing I like is that in addition to the biology and chemistry majors, they offered a biochemistry major and a microbiology & immunology major, if you wanted something a bit different. I'm about to graduate undergrad with a biochem major and I wish my school had a microbio major because I enjoyed that class a lot more and would have been happy continuing with it. Just something to think about.

Lots of medical schools in Texas means greatest chance of getting into a school in Texas....not to mention that UT has a better reputation than the others. While ucsd also has a great reputation and also happens to be in my favorite city, California medical schools are very difficult to get accepted at even as an IS student because there are simply not enough spots for,the number of quality applicants I'm CA.....thus, Texas is the best choice here

you should go to ucsd

go to whichever school has the hottest girls because which school you end up going to really doesn't matter! i went to a fairly "dumpy" school and i got into multiple medical schools so if you're gonna go somewhere i say go to the school with the best "scenery"!!!

Hi Nothisispatrick, I'm a rising senior at UM, a major in neuroscience who's applying to medical schools in this cycle. I think you made a great choice, coming to Miami was the best decision I've ever made. Feel free to message me with questions
