If anyone who has participated in the MMEP can give me more info on it that would be great. Are different sites more selective than others? Is state residency a factor?

I doubt state residency plays a factor . I was accepted into three out of state programs .

Hey the MMEP is a good program. Residency is not a factor. I was in the one at Yale but live in New Mexico. I heard Baylor has a good one too. Read up their info on the website. I would imagine they are all good. I think the one is AZ gives priority to their residents but the rest are fine. They are adding Columbia and Duke this year so you have pretty good options out there.

Oscar,

If you participated can you tell me your impression of the program and what advantage , if any , did you gain with respect to medical school admisions . I was accepted this year and would like to hear from someone who participated already . Thanks .

They give you the whole scoop on admissions what they look for, mock interviews and you even get to talk to the admissions people one on one. I enjoyed the MCAT practice exams cuz they give you an idea where you are and where you need to improve. Also take advantage of the daily science review lectures to prepare you for the MCAT. Make sure you get a contact in the admissions so they can read your personal statement and tell you if you are on the right track. take all the money they give and eat all the food. Go to all the activities and take advantage of the free food. Also, try to get laid while you are it. They have lots of chicks in those programs. My friend who was at the Yale program with me, got this chick to give him BJ's all the time so be alert for any possible opportunities.

Hey: Well I have had two interview so far and it has come up on both. I have a third one next week. The way you have to look at it is as how it builds you application. So my advise to you is go for it. You won;t regret it.

Hey Oscar ,

Can you describe the dialogue that arised when the MMEP subject arised during your interviews? . I am trying to imagine how the adcoms felt about it . Thanks .

Minority Medical Education Program

The first interview I had they wanted to know what I was doing in Yale durign the summer and to explain to them what the program was all about. Then also wanted to know how being in a med school environment had any reassurance on my desire to going to med school. They also wanted me to describe the kind of "hands-on" exposure I had and what I learned from having the opportunity to interact with doctors and patients. I am going to my next interview at U Washington in seattle this friday 03/09. They are a MMEP site so I am sure they know what it is but in case they ask about the one I sas in, I'll let you know.

Oscar a million thanks... Please do inform me..I am about to participate at one of the sites and would appreciate knowing how this may fit for me in the near future when I apply . Thanks Bro!
