The MMI is an opportunity for admission tutors to see how you would handle scenarios you will face as a doctor. Here are a few examples.

Once you have an understanding of MMI scenarios and have carefully reviewed the practice pointers for success, the key is practice running through scenarios with someone in your kitchen cabinet under the same time constraints you will encounter on interview day.
In my experience, practice makes perfect.

Also if you have advisors at your undergrad some may offer interview prep...may not be helpful for the MMI format specifically but they can ask/present you scenarios that you might run into

It will be easier than you think. Just take your time and follow the advice above. For most stations, show that you can see all sides of a situation, even if you don’t agree.

It can also help to remember that there isn’t one “right” answer the interviewer is looking for. The intent is to show that you can consider a situation thoughtfully. Depending on the “station” they may be looking for you to show empathy, cooperation, taking responsibility, ethics, leadership, humility (being able to admit a mistake or apologize), and other character traits that the school has decided they would like their students to have. If they throw something at you that you’ve never seen before, it’s okay to say that you have never been in that situation, but here are your thoughts, and here’s how you think you would handle it.

Are you supposed to monologue for the entire 7 minutes? Or will they be asking follow up questions? Is there an amount of time I should aim to speak continuously

The interviewers have a list of followup questions to ask if needed. If you use up all the time without followup questions, that is fine. If you talk for a few minutes and there is time for followup questions, that is fine too.

Also check out the sample scenarios in the Casper/SJT forums by PrepMatch. Most MMI stations will involve the scenario and at least 2-3 questions related to it. Read the articles I shared.
