For the multiple mini interviews, if they give us 8 minutes are we expected to fill up those 8 minutes with talking? What happens if we run out of things to talk about and end early? Will they dismiss us right after that? Also is it better to make things concise and coherent when explaining or try to ramble and fill in the entire 8 minutes? Sorry a bombardment of questions 😛

Just had one yesterday. No you do not have to use the entire 8 minutes. Use what you need to thoroughly discuss the scenario. Some are longer, and some are shorter. When you are done, thank the interviewer and walk out. They specifically told us before we started that it is better to end than to ramble on and on because the more we ramble the more likely it is that we say something that isn't good.

I will also say that I really enjoyed the MMI format. It's actually a lot of fun because the prompts are genuinely interesting. Also, I was very surprised with how short 8 minutes actually is. Oh, and you are not just speaking for 8 minutes straight, you are having a thoughtful conversation for 8 minutes.

My MMI interviews included follow-up questions by the interviewers. So we would walk in the room, give our response to the scenario, which takes however long it takes (make a coherent argument, don't ramble) and then the interviewer would ask follow up questions to fill up the time. Often the timer would go off in the middle of an interviewer question or in the middle of a response...it's awkward but that's how it works, just get up and move on. They'll probably explain the specific format when you get there, so there may or may not be interviewer follow-up.

Congrats on becoming an assistant mod!

OP: you'll respond but then as Ismet said, your interviewer will usually have follow-up questions and discussion. It's not like talking to a wall. I also thought MMI was fun - there are definitely some fun scenarios, from what I've experienced and what I've heard of others.

OP, it's always to better to be concise and coherent! Going along with with others said, this is a very interactive and organic process, just like any other interview. The interviewer will probably follow up with many questions, and you can even ask for clarification. The MMI I had MS2 students, so I was even able to ask questions. Trust me, you will wish you had more time! Best of luck 😀
