Is this class worth taking in college? I am interested in politics so it might be fun, and there is a trip to new york. Here is a description: The use of simulation techniques to develop an understanding of the processes and operations of the United Nations. The course culminates with the students participating in the National Model United Nations. Can I include it on my e.c.s even if it is just a semester thing?

Does the course include any acting? Like for example, can you dress up as one of the delegates from the third world whose governments we fund and devise a skit set in Zurich where you pick up as many prostitutes as you can while pretending to be a poor old soul who the evil capitalists are abusing? Ahhhhhh sorry I couldn't help myself!

The serious answer is yes you could probably take the class and include it as an EC or something on AMCAS if it involves some out of town trip or seminar. So long as you can discuss it in an interview as being meaningful.

Bolded is your answer: do it.

It could be a nice little booster on your app that you can talk about (and maybe it will lead to more political activities).

Or maybe, it will be fun but also kind of pointless and you don't put it on your app.

Either way, if it sounds fun to you, go for it.

Definitely a good idea. I did it my senior year and had a blast. Shows balance in the typically "over-sciencey" resume. It is a lot of work though.

It's always nice to take non-science courses that you're interested in. They're a refreshing break and they challenge you intellectually in ways that science courses don't.
