Is it true if you match in an advanced program and not a prelim, that you find out your adv. program so you can try to scramble close to it????

That is my understanding. Are you hoping you don't match into a prelim so you can find out a few days early!?

Funny- I asked our student affairs office that same question yestarday and she said you don't know, and you would have to scramble blindly. Anyone know the real deal?

i don't think you know for sure RuNnR...but it makes sense huh. check out some of the other advanced program threads (anesth, ophtho, derm, neuro, etc.).

I heard that you find out the city but not the actual name of the program.

I think you find out the city your advanced program is in, but not the actual program. But, if you only applied to one program in each city, you would know.

this is what happens for those applying to both PGY1/2 slots. It says something like this...

- you have match into an advanced (pgy2) PMR training position.
- you have failed to match into a pgy1 traininng postion.

ofcourse either combination occurs, you don't know were it is (unless they have changed this feature) until actual match day. All you are given is yes or no you matched or didn't match. Lame, yes, but thats the way it works.

that sucks! someone told me you find out. Guess she was wrong and I'll have to find out tomorrow.....

I think I'm gonna have to take a trazadone tonight.

and I know b/c since I didn't rank any prelim spots, I didn't match into any! I got my advanced spot. So I find out my adv. program tomorrow when I get my UNfilled prelim med program list. Tomorrow I'll know all my match stuff b/c you find out what you got in the scramble. apparently, it closes pretty fast so everyone should be all matched up tomorrow afternoon.

so, how'd it go runnr? did you end up finding out your adv program city? if so, you must be super relieved!

I got into Hopkins for PMR. AND I scrambled into Univ. of Nevada in RENO!!! How the hell did I scramble into Reno?? AWE-SOME.

Congratulations RuNnR!!!

That's awesome runnr. Hope you started the celebration last night!
