Hi there, Is a degree in psychology from Montclair State University considered good? Would you think Montclair State has a good psychology program? Thank you for your time.

Ok, I understand. Thank you both for your replies. I really appreciate it !

I was wondering if a bachelors in psychology would be good enough for applying to Phd programs. If the program at Montclair State would be valued for a psychology doctoral program.

Most undergraduate programs will offer similar education in basic psychology; try and find a program that will allow you to accrue minimal debt and ideally a program with faculty whose research you find interesting. You may not have an idea of what area of psychology you're interested in pursuing, so I would worry more about finding a school that offers you the best fit, rather than a specific psychology program that's especially well regarded. This being said, I don't know much (anything) about Montclair State, but from googling just now, it appears to be a pretty standard state university, so I'm assuming it'll offer you the framework you need to succeed in post-bacc & grad school.

I graduated with my BA in psych from Montclair back in 2008. I then went on to get my Masters in Experimental Psychology concentrating in Behavioral Neuroscience from Seton Hall in 2011. I worked for almost 3 years in a cancer setting and just got accepted to a PhD program.

I also graduated with three people who went straight from undergrad to PhD (one into a clinical program, another to a psyd at Kean, and another to behavioral neuroscience at American).

Try to get research experience in a lab. Have a good GPA/GRE score and get valued LOR's.
