i just wanted know if a student takes the april mcat and turns his primary application on time, what months will take the largest amount of time to do the secondaries and interviews? i understand all schools are different but a reasonable range of months will definitely be helpful!

For me (submitted AMCAS in early June), the heaviest months were July and August for secondaries, and October through December for interviews.

when do you receive your mcat score when you take it in april?

June 15-ish. I submitted before having received my MCAT score, though.

if you submit your completely AMCAS in June, you'll probably start receiving most of your secondaries in August and September, and interviews starting anywhere from september on, but probably the most from september to november or december

if anyone else got anything to say?

I submitted my AMCAS the first week of August. I did my secondaries during the months of September, October, and November. Interviewed November through February.

(I submitted AMCAS late because I was lazy... well, I was working two jobs and taking EMT classes... and my brother got married in the summer, so I did some overseas traveling - was a little busy, so my process got delayed. FYI, I took the April MCAT, so I should have totally taken advantage of it and applied much earlier. Things are working out just fine, but I would have probably had decisions in my hands much earlier.)

I submitted my AMCAS app on June 21st and received my first secondary around the 10th of July. Almost all of them came before the middle of August. Interviews ran from Sept to Dec.

if you submit before you receive your mcat score, is that totally ok with the adcom? do they just see that you send in your amcas app and just put a folder out there for you? what exactly is the benefit of sending it in early and not having a mcat score in file there with it?

The benefit of sending it in so early is that you will avoid the mad rush of AMCAS applications that are submitted as soon as MCAT scores are available. It takes time for AMCAS to be verified.

so the generally feeling i am getting is get the AMCAS in by early june, and july through december will be the heavy work with secondaries and interviews?

Not quite. Your secondaries will come in July and August, but your interviews will come based on how competitive your application is. If you are very competitive, expect your heavy interview load to be from Sept to Dec. If you are competitive, expect it to run Nov to Feb. If you are borderline, expect Jan to April. This is not a steadfast rule or anything, but is based on the observations I've made during the application process, both from personal experience at interviews and from what I've pieced together here on SDN.
