It is definitely allowed, but just depends on the program and what their rules are about it. Personally, unless you're at a program where you aren't worked like a dog (rare), it will be difficult to find the time to in a 4yr. Its more common for 6yr people to do it during their med school years from what I've heard because they have the time and are fairly well-rested.
