More disrespect and marginalization

🤣🤣🤣HAHAAH!!! 🤣🤣🤣! Dude I'm in the Mission, so I find this website HILARIOUS!!! :highfive:

Yeah, it's a bit of a scene down there (I live in Laurel Heights and work at UCSF). I understand wanting to fit in, but it's such an extreme look and a commitment. It's like, "I only want to be attractive to other really hideous-looking people and look like absolute crap to, literally, everyone else in the world. But I can somehow afford $500 shoes." Whatever, man.

SF has to be the big city with CONSISTENTLY the worst-looking straight women in the country. Seriously, Cat-in-the-Hat leggings, a dude's haircut, a patchwork heavyweight cardigan, and the ugliest hornrim glasses you can find, aren't ANYONE's idea of fashion sense. And the distribution of Body Mass Indices has 2 peaks, one at 15 kg/m2 and another at 30 kg/m2.

🤣While I have to agree with you with the bimodal distribution of the BMI of women in SF and the crazy fashion sense, I kind of have to disagree with the worst looking straight women in the country. There are TONS of hot girls in SF! I mean tons! They are just not in the Mission 😆.

I'm with you, Fake. It's like an F-ing leper colony here. And I get it; I mean, I'm not a 10 and I know it, but compared to where I came from, the mean level of attractiveness here is easily 2 points lower. The weird thing is, it's not just the fashion (not JUST the fashion), and it costs a lot to live here, so you'd think it'd be beautiful people everywhere. I was as surprised as anyone, but after living here almost a year and talking to guys who've been here longer, it's the best-kept secret in the city: it is an unfashionable, ugly place.

Can't believe all you SF haters... Lived there since '91, had to leave for medical school, can't wait to get back! So many hot girls, such a great city (best city in the US in my opinion)... The Haight, North Beach, Cow Hollow, Marina, Richmond, Sunset, Pacific Heights, Russian Hill, and yeh, even the Mission... If you can't find the beauty and San Francisco and its people, you don't deserve the privilege of living there.

Quick side note, for everyone waiting to find out their fate this week, best of luck!

Well now hold on there, son. I don't want to get into a "my dad can beat up your dad" contest, but the vast majority of the things that people claim to like about SF are always outside the city. I get this at parties a lot "Oh, how can you not love it here? It's so close to Napa, and Carmel, and the mountains, and so on..." All that's true and great, but for a CITY, it's pretty marginal. The parts of if that have actual urban amenities is REALLY small (that is, the whole city is small, the southern half of it is completely off the radar for most of the people that live here, and of the rest, easily 2/3 are almost exclusively residential). There are some truly great neighborhoods with interesting stuff (almost all of which closes at 9pm, but whatever), but after about 3 blocks, you're back to purely residential. The exceptions are the Mission, the Marina, and Polk street, and even these lack density, scope, vibrancy compared to Chicago (where I lived prior to here).

Don't get me wrong, I really like living here, but to say it's the greatest city in the US suggests you've never lived anywhere else.

I would add that I do occasionally see really attractive girls in SF and it always makes me think I'm missing something or I'm just not looking in the right places because obviously they exist, but at the end of the day, the people that seem to be out in the world in the city, men and women, are uniformly unattractive.

Not quite sure where to begin… You are right that one of the great things about SF is that it is so close to Napa, Sonoma, Monterey, Big Sur, Tahoe, etc. But, to say that the city itself is marginal is INSANE. San Francisco itself is small, that is for certain, 7x7 miles, but that is part of its charm. It is a city that is a bunch of little neighborhoods, all with their unique history and charm. I spent 15 years exploring that town and never got tired if it. I did my undergrad at Cal and chose to live in the city and commute because I would spend all of my spare time in SF regardless. And littered through all these "residential" areas you are talking about are little cafes, shops, restaurants, bars, etc. that make all those neighborhoods very cool. There is also a romance to San Francisco, the beautiful architecture, the skyline, the bay, the bridges, the coast line, the fog, the parks, all of the incredible cuisine, I could go on and on. Chicago is a great town, considered going there for residency, but I will take SF over it any day. Dunno how you can say SF lacks scope or vibrancy compared to Chicago, have you really experienced SF?? Can't enjoy Chicago half the year ‘cos of the cold, and it is a very Midwestern town. I much prefer the West coast. As for the comment on having not lived anywhere else, I grew up on the East coast, lived or spent time in lots of major cities, traveled all over the West coast, and spent 6 years traveling overseas in the military. I think I have gathered enough experiences in other cities to claim SF's greatness with a clear conscience.

I will concede your point about SF closing early, always been my biggest complaint. Live there long enough though, and you find out where the nightlife goes…

And I just think you are crazy about the lack of attractiveness of the people in that town. Have you been to Cow Hollow, the Marina or North Beach on a Saturday night? Alright, this is way too long already. I welcome your comments.

Everything you said is true (except about the bevy of hot girls; yes the Marina has some. Some). All those little cafes and restaurants in the residential streets exist, they are just at a lower density than where I came from. And the cute little, character-filled neighborhoods you mentioned? They exist and are great, but after 3 blocks, they're gone. An average saturday night in the Marina is bustling, to be sure, but it's smaller, quieter, and less varied than, say, Bucktown in Chicago (regardless of the time of year; the cold doesn't keep people from going out). It's just a consequence of the size of the place, I suppose. There just aren't as many people here.

Anyway, the climate is quickly sucking me in, and I suppose a year, I'll be as arrogantly oblivious to the outside world as most of the people here enjoy being, but I've been back to Chicago a couple times since coming here, and from a purely urban enjoyment perspective, there's still just no comparison.

Yeah I was going to say that also about marina and north beach. Alas, after living in New York City... I have to say NYC has more good looking girls consistently... but SF I think has the best looking girls 🙂 Plus I hate NYC... it's definitely one of those been there done that places. However, SF is one of those cities that never gets bad...I think it is probably (as you guys mentioned) the ability to drive to wherever and whatever you want to do in 2 hrs or less with great weather wherever you go. No other city offers that... as a comparison, I grew up in the south suburbs of chicago until the age of 18, and frequently went to the city. The weather is complete crap, lots of girls are overweight, and unhealthy, and there isn't too much diversity. NYC (lived for 1 yr), is cultured, TONS of hot girls, but they are all pretentious anyways so it doesn't matter, can't drive anywhere worth a damn without running into crap weather or nothing much to do.
My opinion... sorry we kind turned into :hijacked: s We should just create a regional hot girl thread.:woot:

meh, you all go live in Prague and then come back and talk about the girls, culture, beauty, quality of life, architecture, etc in any US city. warning, after life in urban paradise, the only place for you in the States will be that of a country landowner.

/end big-fish story thread hijack haha.

Maybe we SHOULD turn this into a hottest regional girl thread. It would sure beat us going back and forth over what basically amounts to just different preferences and priorities!

And I'm +1 on Prague. Beautiful place, beautiful people. Would like to spend more time there.

Yo, I hear this from MULTIPLE people... Maybe I should try and squeeze in a 1 week trip before residency starts...:banana::banana: All night long... all night!

DO IT! 😀 and if you can, try to meet some people over there.. czechs can be reserved but once you get to know them they're amazing. And the girls.. I only lived there for a little over a year but I still think about the girl I left to come back and finish school every day. life goes on, but damn..

as far as the States goes.. I've been in So Cal for almost two years but I gotta be honest, it doesn't compare to football season in the SEC.. go to the South in the early-fall (Knoxville, T-town, Oxford) for those southern belles in sundresses, throwing tight spirals, who actually blush when you tell them they're pretty cause they have no idea... 😍

As misattributed to Mark Twain (who DIDN'T say it):

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

hardly the same. granted, the average temp in july in sf is 59.1 and the average temp in jan is 51.1 (this does ignore the beautiful indain summer we get late sept thru oct/ early nov). but chicago is like 20 degrees (being generous) dec thru feb, and that is cold. and cold gets old. dealin' with long cold winters in pennsylvania right now, and don't even wanna think about how little i would enjoy a winter in chicago (oh the wind off of lake michigan)... and no matter how ****ty the weather gets in SF, it is never so cold that i just get tired of dealing with the weather, but i get sick of really long cold winters. if it is cold and foggy in SF in july, i drive across the golden gate (watching the fog break up as i cross the bay) head over to tiburon and get some lunch at guyuamus, grab a couple of margaritas, enjoy the sun, and watch fog roll in across the bay... point being if the weather sucks in SF, you can drive like 20 minutes and get away. weather sucks in chi town, you are stuck.

gotta shout out to myself, matched in anesthesia 😀😀😍:luck: kep my fingers crossed for some california love on thursday... :xf::luck::xf::luck:
