Hi guys 🙂

I'm applying to a few Veterinary schools this next month in September. I'm taking my GRE's in September. I have a few questions reguarding applying. If I understand correctly, I can apply directly to each school I plan on applying to, or I can apply via the AAVMC.ORG, right? Is there an advantage to applying to each school or applying via aavmc.org? Also, I plan on asking for letters of recommendations this week, does it matter that I am just going to have them do paper form versus going thru the aavmc? It just sounds confusing to me to use aavmc. I guess I just need some clarifications and opinions on which is easier. 🙂

Hopefully I'm not way off base here! I appreciate any advice one has to offer.

Actually, what is required is that you fill out the general VMCAS application through the AAVMC. Then most schools require you to fill out a supplemental application on top of that. Some schools, don't participate in the VMCAS (Tufts for instance) and therefore you only fill out their application. And still others only require the VMCAS and don't have a supplemental. Check with each school to see what they require.

You can do either paper or online letters. They say they prefer the electronic. I think it's easier for them.

Good luck.

Like Velcrosky said, most of the schools require the VMCAS app. and some have supplementals to go along with it. As for the LOR, you should check to see what each school requires first. Some only accept electronic if I'm not mistaken. I would also offer your evaluators the option of paper or electronic. One person that I asked wanted paper, but two others prefered electronic.

To clarify - I know for sure that both Michigan and Colorado will only accept eLOR. So, if you are applying to either of those schools, you will need the recommendation letters electronically.
