  1. Pre-Dental
Got into dental school but I got two hard decisions ahead of me......I was hoping you could give me your raw input

1. Got into nova and creighton in omaha NE. They both got there pros and cons that out weigh eachother....im pretty indifferent. Leaning a little more to nova but I am going to speak to people closest to me and get everyone input. The only thing that has me on the fence about Nova is the so called "reputation" kind of new its known as a slacker school...Ultimately I am going to hang up a DMD or DDS diploma at my office...I want to feel prideful about the school I attended. Creighton in NE, cold, and they wear ties cmon what happened to the scrubs???? Creighton doesnt have specialities so the students are doing all the complicated cases. Thats a big +

2. The masterplan the whole time was to get into UFCD. I got a 14 in the math but got great DAT overall score UF doesnt take under a 15 in any section. Do I study for the DAT for three weeks in the Dec. break to retake and hope to get an interview sometime in late Jan early Feb. for UFCD......thats a whole battle in itself.....I would have school to fall back on and this could be a win-win situation because If i do better on the math then I might have a shot at UF but if I dont then I have creighton or Nova but atleast i tried

so give me the raw opinions dont hold back hope all is well

take into consideration which school has better facilities. NOVA might have a reputation as a "party school" (i know nothing of this) but that shouldn't play as big a role as which will offer you better education. Party school is determined by the students, not by the teachers. As long as you have the motivation, that shouldn't affect how you perform.

Dental school opens up a pathway towards becoming a dentist. There are multiple branches that fall off the main path. You can get to the end in several different ways... i knows people at NOVA who aim to pass and nothing more and are in the bottom 5%.. i know people who want to be in the top of the class and are in top 15%.... i know people who are doing research... really YOU determine the path you want to take. Although a school may have a research or clinical bias, or any other bias for that matter, it is up to you as an individual to determine what you want to achieve out of dental school.
The fact of the matter is every school gives you the opportunity to be successful. What you put in will determine what you get out. I promise you that every school puts out dentists that are as competent as dentists from what are considered "top" schools. My really good friend just graduated from UCLA, and is doing a top residency. One of her co-residents is from NOVA and is better than her in some respects and worse in others. I will go to whatever university i feel comfortable at. I know that if i am happy and in a place i want to be, i will more than likely do well enough to specialize should i choose to.
