Yes, I realize this won't get rid of them...but decided to do it none the less. Here are some *****ic questions with some obvious answers:

1) Will getting a DUI ruin my chances of being a dental student / dentist pre or post dental school acceptance?

Obvious Answer:
If you have a DUI already...it will be hard to get accepted and licensure after dental school will be hard. # of DUIs and length of time that has passed since DUI will be a factor. If you are accepted...don't get a DUI. Yes, you can be kicked out. Yes it can prevent licensure.

2) Does Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, Medical Pharmacology, medical Microbiology, Microbiology, and/or Nutrition count as a science course?

Obvious Answer:
AADSAS provides in the "instructions" section an answer to most questions. In default, all of the above except Nutrition is a science course. You've all taken science courses...you know what a science course entails. If the course you took didn't seem to deal with hard science...it probably wasn't a science course.

3) What should I do if i have a 2.8 GPA?

Obvious Answer:
Apply if you feel ready. Explain why you have a low GPA in the Personal Statement or sections of the AADSAS asking you to explain low grades. If you feel like a 2.8 won't get you in school, take more or retake courses. Apply to a formal master's program or a formal post-bacc program. Which you should go with depends upon what is offered, what you can get in to, and where you eventually want to go to school.

4) Is 20+ a good DAT score?

Obvious Answer:
Yes

5) What DAT score do i need to get into ____ dental school with a ___ GPA?

Obvious Answer:
Shoot for as high as you can and stop wasting time by asking meaningless hypothetical questions.

6) Is it okay for a LOE writer to just say I got a good grade?

Obvious Answer:
Probably not the best LOE. Try to get them to write more or get a better LOE. If all else fails and you need that LOE, get that one and pray to whatever god or bottle of liquor you pray to.

7) Will it help if I have the best friend of the dean of admissions to ___ dental school write me a letter of recommendation to that dental school?

Obvious Answer:
Yes

8) Does my race and sex affect my chances of acceptance?

Obvious Answer:
At most schools, yes, to some degree. Get over it...bit*ching on a forum won't change the way the world turns.

9) Is May/June/July/August/September/October/November/December/January/February/March too late to submit my application?

Obvious Answer:
May - No, You are early
June - No you are still pretty early
July - No, but June is better
August - No, but July is better and you might lose chances for some of those early interview slots
September - No, but you are getting really on the cuff of late
October and November - Yes, you are late. Late does not equate with not going to be accepted, but it makes it a whole lot harder the more you wait to submit.
December thru March - Yes, and you've missed the submission deadline for certain schools.

10) Should I (insert how AADSAS says to do it) or should I (insert how student wants to do it)?

Obvious Answer:
By default, unless there is something really really odd going on (which 95% of the time ISN'T the case) do it the way AADSAS asks you to do it. Doesn't mean your way won't work, just means when it doesn't work out, you can blame AADSAS messing up and not you not following rules as the cause.

11) Should I tell the truth about ___ or should I lie / omit / fib about it?

Obvious Answer:
It's an ethical question. Seeing as it isn't too difficult, given a little time, to flesh out who a person on SDN is (anonymity on here isn't really anonymity) maybe you should figure this out on your own without involving everyone in the fact that you'd like to lie about it. Use the common sense rules: Be honest. Be Smart. When the two conflict, make your own decision because you're an adult and should act like one.

It's not even June yet. Don't let the process get to you.

Didn't someone start a thread a while back to talk about doing well on the DAT because they were stoned when they took it? Now that sounds like bad advice.

What is better DDS or DMD?

These aren't such mornic questions...but here:

Is USC really that bad?

Obvious Answer:
Definite maybe depending on taste

Is the following website information about specialist salaries accurate? i.e. help me figure out the easiest specialty to get into so I can buy the 300 foot yaught within 5 years of graduation.

Obvious Answer:
Decent Specialist = $$$$$$$ to $$$$
Decent Dentist = $$$
Get over it...you'll make money. If a couple hundred thou a year ain't enough to fulfill your needs and wants, try another profession.
