Hi, was wondering which of the pharmacy schools is the most modern in terms of technology in the school and teaching styles. Any thoughts?

I don't have anything to compare my school to, since I only went there. I believe that what my school has would be comparable to most other schools.

We have built in microphones in our tabletops for video conferences. Multiple screens, so you can see from where ever you sit. Powerpoint & Macromedia lectures. But, med chem was still taught using multiple chalkboards to draw lots of structures.

Is it just me, or are most pharmacy colleges very dull looking with poor architecture.

In my opinion, Texas A&M Kingsville COP is at least one of the most modern in terms of technology, since it's brand new. I interviewed there, and it seemed to be very high tech. I couldn't tell you about the teaching styles, since this will be its inaugural year.

Not to mention that UF has all of our lectures recorded and we can watch them 24/7. I think that's pretty technologically advanced. I like the fact that I can watch my lectures at any time of the day or night. All of our notes are posted online on blackboard and we communicate with almost all of our professors via messageboards. I think it's a pretty advanced school technologically.

That's the first I've heard of it. Maybe it's new? I have spoken with students on rotations and they said you watched a satellite feed of lectures and if the feed goes out then you're SOL. I wasn't aware that they used digiscript or a similar company to record lectures.

What I was going for was the conservative look that most pharmacy schools tend to have. While most colleges have very attractive campuses pharmacy schools look very dull and boring. Just curious if others find this to be true.

When I went to Touro for my interview they seemed to have very new and technologically advanced facilities. I think that facilities will vary a lot among schools though.

It is not that new- it has been around since the satellite programs. The lectures are viewed by videoconferencing and if it happens to cut out (this is infrequent), every lecture is available online to view or download as you please. All campuses get the same lectures, live, and are able to view or download them at their leisure. It's very easy and convenient- I just watched a couple of lectures online about a month ago at home, to see how they work.
