Hey everyone! Wanted to make this thread for people accepted into Mount Saint Mary's Los Angeles DPT program. Post if you were accepted/have you been accepted anywhere else and are either committing or not to Mount Saint Mary's!

Hi! I was accepted into MSMU, University of St. Augustine in San Marcos, and MGHIHP in Boston so far. Waitlisted at Midwestern in Arizona. I am definitely leaning toward MSMU but I am waiting to hear from a couple other programs. So excited!

My stats were:
Average GPA: 3.3
Prerequisite GPA: 3.6
GRE: Verbal 145 Math 151 Analytical 4.5
Extracurricular: Tutor working with disadvantaged kids for 4 years, community service project in Israel, Led orientation at my school for 3 years, etc.

Also sat in on a class taught by Doctor Lowe who is the chair, and introduced myself and kept in contact with Dr. Lowe. Hope that helps!

I also was accepted to MGH. What do you think of that school?

I liked the school, loved the city (I’m from LA). The faculty and students were great during the open house. Everyone was so nice, friendly, and helpful. It is expensive. They do have a new curriculum which is unique and intriguing. Everyone spoke highly of it. However, it has only been implemented on the current 1st years so there are no stats on license exam outcomes.

Anyone else hear back from Mount St Mary's? I heard some people received an email with credentials so they can log in to their web advisor. Did anyone else get that email?

Yes I received an email after putting my deposit down last week saying they created myMSMU student account and gave me my info.

Does anyone know who makes the MSMU DPT Facebook page for our cohort? Does the school or cohort before us do it like Chapman or Pitt or do we need to make it? I’m anxious to find out who I’ll be spending the next 3 years with.

Congrats to those who heard back. This it the last school to respond to me, hopefully I'll hear soon.

Hey Congrats to all that got accepted, and to those waiting, don't lose hope.

I'm a current MSMU student so if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them

Shawn said that we should be getting some form of communication on the decision today or tomorrow.

Hey! It's nice of you to still be active here on the boards. I was just wondering, how is the program? Can you talk a little about the program? What are some honest pros and cons of the school? Thank you!

Pros:
With only 35 students accepted per cohort, your classmates are pretty much family. Especially during your 1st semester when you will probably be spending more time at school with your classmates than at home. Since the program is only in one building, you always run into other cohorts who are very supportive and nice. Pretty much everyone wants to make sure you succeed, so never be afraid to reach out for help.
I also liked how approachable a majority of the professors are, and how they emphasize building interpersonal skills as a clinician.

Cons:
Since the school is small, it doesn't have the latest equipment. Also, the cadavers are already dissected and aren't in the best condition. You still get to see the muscles and nerves but not the layers before that.

Pro or Con depending on how you see it:
1st semester is tough, it's really where you need to buckle down and realize you're no longer in undergrad. Anatomy class will test you in ways you never knew you could be tested, but you also leave with a ton of knowledge you never knew you were capable of knowing in only one semester. You will have a love hate relationship for this class.

Thanks for the reply. With the cadavers being dissected already, did this affect the educational experience in your opinion? Also, I just got accepted into West Coast University. If you have any knowledge of WCU, which school would you go to?

I didnt think my learning experience was negatively affected, but that's my personal opinion I know other people would have been upset about it.

As for what I think of WCU vs MSMU that's tough because when I was applying, WCU wasnt accredited so it was easy to choose MSMU over WCU.
I think you should try asking a WCU student because at least for me, it's hard for me to gauge how well a school is teaching it's student when I can't get feedback from current PTs and what they thought about students from WCU. My reason for choosing MSMU came from hearing what PTs thought and seeing students during their clinicans.

to where did you accept?

Hey! I have accepted my spot at AT Still in Mesa, Az, and am currently waiting on a decision to Western in California. I picked AT Still right now mainly due to newer up to date facilities, too much traffic in LA, and another student told me Anatomy is extremely difficult at Mount Saint Marys, while students at AT Still said its hard but very doable.

Called Shawn and he said we can be hearing back today or tomorrow.

I was accepted with early decision last September. Been a little in the dark since. However I just received information regarding, "...a welcome letter and academic calendar sometime in March. Also, study materials, program supplies, equipment needs, health requirements, and policies and procedures will be e-mailed between April and July. The class schedule and book list is e-mailed late July."

No information about my cohort buddies.

GRE: 152 Q, 146 V, 4.5 AW

Extra-Curric: Social Chair of Kinesiology and Health Promotion CLub

[I was trying to really stay in California but looked at a few out of state. My advice: if you look at a few out of state schools, look at the percentages they accept out of state vs in state.]

Waitlist: CSULB, MSMU

Rejections: Samuel Merritt, Western, Franklin Pierce, AT Still, CSU Sac, CSUN, Creignton, Chapman, Hampton

I was waitlisted today too! Did you get an email back after you accepted your status?
Did you receive an e-mail after replying to them that you accepted the waitlist position? I haven't received anything back from the reply yet.

When did you hear from Franklin Pierce? I haven't heard anything from them..

I got waitlisted as well. I didn’t receive a reply after I accepted the spot on the waitlist.

Does anyone know if there is a ranking system for their waitlist and if it’s possible to know where we rank on it? I was thinking about calling and asking.

FP has filled their class off the wait-list, but they "anticipate a few spots becoming available later this summer." Fingers crossed
