Will you move to another city for a part time position ? I have an interview for a part time position in another city and I'm wondering if it's worth it. I currently do not have a job.

If this is a part time with benefits then yes. If its just a prn or per diem....then maybe not.

I probably wouldn't move for a part-time position. However, if I feel that the position is close enough (~1hr away), I may commute for a while, instead--this might also get my foot in the door for when a full-time position opens up.

Otherwise, depending on where you live, the cost of relocation can put a significant dent in finances. If I were in that position, I'd rather save up for the big move when I find a full-time job.

I am with Protongenic; most jobs in this area are for part time so I will definitely commute if the position is close enough. I'm not too interested in the idea of moving for part time, but my spouse already has a job with decent benefits here.

Depends on how far it is, how desperate you are for money, and what is the likelihood that a full-time job will open up in your current area vs the new area.

I did last summer, but that was because I also sold my house and had to stash my things somewhere, KWIM?

And how part-time is the job? 32hrs is livable....possibly even 24, if it gets your foot in the door. Less than that, most likely not worth it.

What is staffing like in the department? Any signs that indicate if you impress as PT they'll offer you FT when the opportunity presents itself?

No way to add UGA in the avatar eh?

Thanks everyone for your contributions. It was supposed to be 22 hrs/wk with Target . I discussed my concern with the recruiter and we both agreed that this is not the right position for me. He said he will let me know when a full time position opens up. The position is in San Antonio and I live in Houston so commuting wasn't an option. I currently don't have have a job but I have only been licensed for about a month.
