I’m working closely with a Hospice facility to make an entertainment center in the common room. Any ideas of some good movies or subscriptions?

I wanted to get Netflix but most of the content on there is not hospice appropriate (overly sexual and violent). Movies with loud noises and disturbing supernatural themes are also not appropriate.

Perhaps any movies from the 70s or 80s?

Some of the Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies are a hoot a lot of older people will remember/enjoy. I find them quite entertaining. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby movies are also pretty good, and in the same vein. A lot of older war movies and westerns with John Wayne are quite good, but I'm not sure if you'd consider them appropriate.
The Seven Year Itch may be a bit too inappropriate, but it is genuinely one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
Old shows, Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, Hogan's Heroes, M*A*S*H is my personal favorite (lol). M*A*S*H can be a bit swear-y though, something to note.

Hope this helps.

Haha yeah... as soon as I read this I thought about Airplane and The Naked Gun. 70s and 80s is probably the worst period for appropriate movies

Thank you guys for all of your help!

It's hard to balance everything out because all the residents at the center have different capacities to handle certain movies. The men really like star wars since they have memories of seeing it with their sons and grandsons. But the women don't like it because it's too noisy!

Psych is a really light hearted and fun tv show with plenty of 80s references!

The Waltons
Andy Griffith
Little House on the Prairie
Old variety shows
Antique Roadshow
The Bob Newhart Show
Lawrence Welk
Matlock

Old westerns for the gentlemen
Hallmark movies for the ladies

Source: born in the 80s, raised by my grandparents.

Doctor Sleep, the book and new movie features a hospice heavily.

The above was in very poor taste and was only said flippantly

I find old westerns to be a popular choice in my hospice, and there seems to be an endless amount of them

Edit: Also, Murder She Wrote

I noticed a lot of patients on the wards are always watching Westerns. Also the Price is Right in the morning. I've rounded to that for years, and it's always such a distraction!
