I'd do anything to find another Patch Adams or Lorenzo's Oil out there. Anybody got any recommendations?

I saw Patch Adams speak at my university last year... if you think the movie is inspiring..

I don't know about movies but Grey's Anatomy is definitely my inspiration for wanting to become a doctor.

Try watching "Lost"...Jack is such an inspiration.

Watch Big Fish...I love that movie...

I think there is a doctor in the movie...

one of my first year lecturers said we had to see:

Awakenings
The Doctor
and
Patch Adams

before graduating med school. I'm not sure I agree with the Patch Adams overly warm and fuzzy representation but the first two would be worth a look.

My real inspiration to become a doctor definitely is Dr. Spaceman from 30 Rock.

Awakenings and The Doctor are the bomb. As was Patch Adams 🙂

Nine Months
John Q
Knocked up (hilarious!)

Nine months is great, especially if you're interested in OB (like me)
John Q is good for transplant surgery
Knocked up is just hilarious and awesome for OB jokes.

a movie that inspires me to do well in school in general is Dead Poets Society. Oh man is it good.

Will watch it tonight! Thanks Lizzy!

To see the world from the (French) patient's perspective: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (with English subtitles).

A stunning portrayal of a man with a profound, acquired disability.

The Butterfly Effect

Pumping Iron

Good movie for politics too. I know it's not a movie, but just about anything on Discovery Health is good, although they have a few too many baby shows.

"Wit" is a fantastic movie, and is from the point of view from the patient and you get to see her interactions with her doctors. Fantastic movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243664/

Our entire med class watched it 🙂

Sally Field stars in a movie that does a great job portraying how cancer affects an entire family. It's called "Two Weeks"

Also, though it's not a movie, the book Mountains beyone Mountains is a great book and one I think all Drs read!

Granted, it's not a movie, but House meets all my inspirational needs. . . I know it's not exactly meant to be inspirational, but I don't think I could survive from week to week without it

^I loved that movie. 🙂

Slightly off-topic --> why do u like frogs so much?
 I chose a frog as an avatar because it went well with my User Name. People started identifying me with frogs, and I've just gone with the flow. At this point, it just wouldn't seem right for me to be anything but a frog.😀

What's the relationship between a Humid Being and a froggie? 😕

Anyway, you're awesome. 👍 I thought about making an lolcat for you using Kermit the Frog. 😳

Patch adams is absolute disney garbage crap.

Something the lord made isn't bad.

I enjoyed watching The Doctor.

EDIT: I made a comment about the movie WIT but then realized that somoene else had already mentioned it. Its a very good movie. I Highly recommend.

Medicine Man
Steel Magnolias
Patch Adams

Those three are probably the most motivational medical-related movies I've ever watched. Something about Medicine Man still gets me 😍...I guess Amazon jungle research is just one of those unachievable fantasies, huh?

The movie pathology is inspirational.
