I've been volunteering at a local hospital since June, and it looks like I'm going to be moving to another city for work. Of course I'm going to resume volunteering once I get there but I was wondering if this sort of thing "resets" the clock sort of speak since I know adcoms want to see a commitment to one specific activity.

Basically will volunteering at a different hospital be just like I never moved at all?

Common sense dude..
Just find another place to volunteer and you'll be fine.
When they say specific activity I'm pretty sure they just mean a specific field or type of activity, not going to the same place over and over.
Volunteer is volunteer. Where you do it doesn't matter.

The only way for you to show adcoms your devotion to volunteering would be to fly back to your original hospital every week just to volunteer for three hours. Otherwise, they will doubt your commitment to the field of medicine.

Haha, no, really. You're fine. People move, so just find a cool volunteer job in your new city as soon as you're settled. Ideally, it would be a similar position to what you were doing as a volunteer originally. But if you find an opportunity that looks interesting and/or unique, jump on it.

I agree that shows real commitment.

Haha, I wish I could, the nurses there were out of this world amazing. I have way more respect for the nurses than I did the surgeons and definitely going to miss them.

Thanks for the replies.
