Any advice on the job market there? Looking to relocate to south florida from north florida. I am a recent grad, any advice or who is most likely to hire, best places to work (retail) etc? Thanks for the help everyone.

The job market is pretty tight, and saturated to be honest. Publix is very tight right now and so is Target. Not really sure about Wal-Mart, Walgreens is hiring here and there but limited hours at best (per diem and 24-32/week). Seems like CVS may be the best option, but that varies per district too.

I'm a 2014 grad, working for Walgreens (signed in November 2013, employee since 2005), so I'm speaking from personal experience (living in West Palm for 4 years) and from first hand experiences with my classmates. I have classmates that are having an extremely hard time finding work and many were CVS and Publix interns throughout school. Many classmates are finding jobs elsewhere in FL and as far as Washington/Oregon area (both being Walgreens). It's not impossible to find a job in South Florida right now, but to be honest, it's fairly difficult. Best of luck to you and stay aggressive.

May I ask why are you moving from North FL? I am asking because I am actually in South FL, and was considering moving to Jax and FL-Panhandle if I can find a job....But no luck. Hence, I am now moving to out of state (MN).

Yup, Orlando has a Satellite campus of UF plus many move to Orlando (big city, desirable location, parks. good schools) from Gainesville after graduation which is making Orlando and surrounding area super-saturated as well.

I saw a position with Target in Palm Beach county recently, but aside from that I haven't seen much in the way of retail. There always seems to be a few hospital positions open, but they usually require a bit of experience.

I wouldn't make the move until you have secured I job. I moved down last year and it took me nearly six months to find my job. That was six months of spending all of my savings and racking up credit card debt. I was under tons of stress until I finally tricked someone into hiring me.

Ha ha... What was your so called "trick", if you don't mind sharing it with us.

So how is Market in Tampa, Bradenton, FL areas? I am planning to move to FL soon!!

Why is everyone moving to Florida? Stay north!

Are you planning to attend Lecom (you mentioned Bradenton) and moving as a Pharm.D student? Or are you a Pharmacist planning to move to Bradenton? To be honest, either way its bad.
You won't get a Pre-grad Intern job while in school since Tampa/Bradenton area has 3 schools within 50 mile radius, and you would have to be really lucky to get a Pharmacist job because every year the graduating class is looking for jobs. DO NOT MOVE UNTILL you have an offer.

^ that's like 2014 class of pharmacy students from ucsf and uscd combined

Hi all,

It seems like it will be different and difficult to work with Walgreen's power system in FL since I have been working with the WAG traditional system in other state!!
Any one found much difference??
