So if the director of a program associated with a school were to have a scheduled meeting with the Dean of Admissions at that school to let them know you were applying as a past participant, do you think that'd be a major move up in the pile? An interview?
 
well it depends on what the program was, and how you will be presented to the dean. But the med schools getting opinions from a trusted source (someone they know, works there) usually helps.
 
Agree with above. How much (or whether) it helps is up in the air. There's a lot of dynamics at play here: the relationship of the individuals, policies of the school, the nature of this program, other applicants, etc.

Suffice it to say it's a good thing. Is it good enough to make a difference? You'll have to tell us in six months.
