I am an MS3 interested in radiation oncology and public health (locally and globally). How feasible is it to obtain an MPH or MSPH (master of science in public health) during a rad onc residency? Do you have to do the Holman pathway in order to complete this or do residencies provide the flexibility needed to accomplish this? Do residency programs fully or partially fund this?

I'm considering getting my MSPH or MPH in one year between 3rd and 4th year, but I'd like to learn more about the feasibility of doing this during residency before making a decision.

If you do the Holman Pathway, I can only imagine they'd be OK with you doing a MPH or MSPH (never heard of that before) if you were also doing a significant amount of research work in your spare time. I know one guy who started a MBA then finished it in night classes during his last year of residency.

If I were you I'd just do it between MS3 and MS4, but only if you feel like you have to do it (the MPH or MSPH I mean).
