Hello All!
Some background: I am currently in a MS biology program (thesis is focused on coronary artery disease). My undergrad record was very poor (cGPA 2.6; sGPA 2.8). Grad school GPA = 4.0. I am in my last semester of courses work. I will be completing my thesis next semester. In the past 3 semesters I have been able to accumulate ~200 hours of clinical volunteer experience and ~100 hours of non-clinical volunteer experience. I have shadowed both DOs and MDs. Throughout UG I was heavily involved in public health and clinical research.
The Question: Should I apply to med school immediately after my thesis-based masters (planning to finish this May)? Or, would a SMP/post-bac be better for me? In addition, would holding a thesis-based masters create an bias for MD or DO?
Thanks in advance!
