And soo not ready for it. I mean, I feel like I haven't really done actual work for a while, having been on a neurosurgery service for a month where the students actually do nothing but get AM vitals. Not to mention being on a psych consult service the month before. And now I'm starting my MSIV with a general surgery sub-i. Now I have to do everything an intern does, including orders and actual patient care?? I don't remember how! And I'm the person they page when there's a problem? And I have to make real decisions!? And on top of that I have to study for Step 2. Yippee.

I am so not ready for this. +pity+

Hey kiddo. Same boat here with a medicine sub-i, but at least the time goes by fast. Haven't killed anyone yet, but trying like hell.

I have no reason to post in this thread because I am just entering med school but that was hilarious....

surgery subinternships are a total joke. the hierarchy is so entrenched in surgery that the only time a subintern will think for him/herself is... never. so no worries. all you have to do is know how to read the vitals quickly. the rest is icing on the cake.
