Msu - do/md

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I dont understand your question.

If its because they are both state schools yes its possible... NY has numerous state medical schools, and you can apply to all of them.

If its because 1 is DO and 1 is MD that shouldn't matter either.

Is it possible to apply for both MD and DO at MSU... Do you know anyone who have done it?

I've heard its the same curriculum except OMM. I wouldn't risk applying to both personally, but I doubt there's any communication between the adcoms.

I think a lot of Michigan residents apply to both. The MD program's admission stats aren't much higher than the DO program stats.

In a couple of years the MD program is moving to a brand new facility in Grand Rapids.

The bummer about MSU is the OOS tuition. I believe the latest annual figure is $65,400 per year. Ouch😡

I think just about everyone applies to both schools. It's not a big deal.

Also, the MD program is expanding to Grand Rapids. They will still have a campus at East Lansing as well. The DO program is expanding to Detroit & Macomb. They also will still maintain a campus at East Lansing.

Word.

In addition, the MD and DO students are in lecture together for a lot of classes, so whether you go to the MD or DO school you pretty much get the same basic science education.

That's what I thought as well. AAMC and aacomas are not related but I am sure your name will show in the MSU system as an applicant for both programs which will put you into an akward poistion.

Yeah, I agree with all of this! I had heard rumors last year that they only wanted you to apply to one, that it looked bad or that you wouldn't get into either, but a lot of my friends got acceptances to both schools last year, so I think it's safe to say that you can definitely apply to both!
