Hey, I am having a little trouble with where I begin writing the personal essay
for this seconary. I have written out a list of skills/abilities a osteopathic physician should have, but i cant seem to encompass all of them (holistic phil./communication with patient/preventative care etc..). I am wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how or what type of situation you described. Thanks.

You may wish to do some research on OMM techniques. You probably should know the very basics, but you don't need to go crazy, I think.

Dude, I hardly wrote anything for my secondary and I got an interview!! I just didn't have time with that one week turn around requirement. I just wrote about a "challenging" team member in school and how I realized that all that was needed was a little management and education to get her rolling. I then talked about how being ableto assess the situation and manage people effectively is a good skill for a physician.

Does this help?

hey, i have a question, ive just sent out my application and i want to get a head start on the secondary since im kinda late in this process. MSU is my first choice, do u mind telling me what they require for the secondary and what the essay questions are? thanks alot and good luck! 😀

Okay, this probably shouldn't be followed, but I wrote a terrible essay for the MSUCOM secondary. My numeric scores were excellent and I'm out-of-state (although that didn't help me). When I read over the essay a half year later, I was amazed anything had happened. In many ways, it seems my primary app and interview were far more integral to my acceptance than the secondary.
Bottom line, being timely and having something good to say (content with good flow) is more important. If your scores aren't great for MSU, I'd focus on the secondary essay to a greater degree.
Hope this helps some.

The secondary is pretty long and tedious as you will see. They have a particular format and a one week turn around requirement.

thanks alot hoberto! I have a question - so the premed committee must fill out that 4 page form that they require (annoying 😛 ). what about the second recommendation - if i get a letter froma DO, does the DO also have to fill out that 4 page evaluation?!? ill be honest, I dont feel comfortable asking the DO to do that - he is TOO busy!! i felt guilty asking for a letter, let alone a ask him to complete a packet....

Maybe call the school? I was given a one week deadline to get it back to them so I only sent the bare minimum for letters...just from a couple of people I KNEW would fill it out and send it in quickly. For one, I kind of outlined the answers so he would know what should be covered. I'm sure if you meet the requirements as far as having the correct number of LOR writers using the form you could send an extra LOR from the doc without the form.

No one asked me about my letters or letter writers at the interview.

Am I the only one who got this deadline?

I would call and ask, the admissions people are REALLY friendly and want to help.
