Does anyone have any good insight into the rural medicine program at MSUCOM? I am a native yooper and am looking into applying for the program. I know they give preference in applications to UP residents for this program, because the program is geared toward training primary care physicians for the area. Any random thoughts from someone who is in the program or knows about it would be appreciated.

Actually, MSUCOM does not have a specific rural med program. It is MSUCHM that does. MSUCOM has said that they think the appropriate time for rural training, should you desire it, is residency. One of COM's base hospitals, though, focuses their students in rural medicine (Munson Hosptial, Traverse City).
