MSW MSW vs RN

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you don't love social work, don't do it. It really seemed like you had a lot of concerns and I'm not sure why you are still trying to get a BSW? If you have 2 years left to go don't you still have time to find another undergrad major? Have you visited an undergrad advisor? I'd even suggest taking time off to find a better alternate to nursing. Your description of both options sounded like a no-win for you either way. What about about becoming a therapist through a psychology route? I'm sorry, I have more questions than suggestions.

No one here will suggest you go with any online option for any type of therapy or clinical (nursing) option.

I have to agree with Goobernut. I'm no expert, I start my clinical MSW program this Fall, but if you are not passionate enough to know (we all have SOME career choice doubts, of course) if you want to be a social worker now, than it seems axiomatic that you shouldn't be throwing away two years of your life and thousands of dollars of your hard earned cash for an MSW, because once you graduate, that's exactly what you'll be 😛. As for a BSN, if you are already having trouble with standard prerequisites that seems like a bit of a red flag to me, BUT, if you have your heart set on becoming a nurse then I would look more into options such as tutors and what not to work through it as opposed to ways to work around it; somebody thought these classes were important, probably are. And as for online, I know nothing about earning a degree in nursing, but I feel like the classroom/clinical/hands on part is probably paramount in your education, so I would try to stick to campus programs if possible. Good luck!
