I just read a post on here that one wrote that the Elmhurst program is a "sweat shop" I was under the assumption that Mt Sinai was a great program. Can anyone let me know about this program?
Thanks

that must have been me since i use that term. mt. sinai has 3-4 programs. the main one is competetive and hard to get into. the others r satellite programs. i heard north general is merging with mt. sinai but it will still be a distinct site. elmhurst offers good clinical training but i feel it is service oriented like many of the other img friendly new york programs. go to an interview in a small one horse town in a university program and u will understadn why i use this term sweat shop. in my interview in elmhurst i was warned by an attending that their program is EXTREMELY busy. he told me he does not want residents to complain. i love manhattan and nyc but not sure if i would have time to enjoy it with all the sweat shops. some of the other img-friendly programs in the nyc area seem less busy but they don't seem nice and friendly and education oriented like the university programs on the west coast or in the south. i have been to about 20 interviews so far this year and 5 last year so i am beginning to get a nose for programs. however i did not get interviews in a lot of top notch competive places so i dont know. yet at a few interviews i was the only IMG.

Thanks! I appreciate the quick reply. Oh yeah, it was you who put that post up.LOL... All the best and hope you match at a great spot! One last question. If I were to end up at say a elmhurst do you think my chances of getting a child psych fellowship be doomed?
