So yes, I am SO embarrassed to ask this question... and thanks already for the smart ass replies... but I was curious... since it appears that you change into scrubs almost immediately for Mt Sinai, do people wear suits when they arrive for their interview? Input from people who have interviewed there would be appreciated.

hey,

i was just there. everyone arrives in suits and are immediately asked to change into scrubs, and in this attire you will stay until you leave. while it's possible to arrive in scrubs, i really wouldn't recommend it. they expect you to come in suits and give you a locker to put everything. you also don't need to bring your own scrubs - ms. cruz has them for you. you might think about bringing comfortable shoes. it was funny to see everyone wear scrubs with high heels and/or shiny black dress shoes. the one girl who brought danskos was really glad she did.

When I went to that interview last year, I was informed in advance about this. I think I compromised and wore just the pants of my suit, along with a normal shirt -- no jacket, no stupid briefcase.

Only the residency coordinator saw us in our real clothes. The program director never even showed up until after everyone was changed into scrubs. Many people arrived in suits regardless -- and some just didn't know about the scrubs beforehand.

I think "business casual" is good enough. Anything you'd wear to a pre-interview dinner (which Sinai didn't actually have last year) is probably good. And wear comfortable shoes. There's nothing more stupid-looking than high heels under a full set of OR scrubs.
