hi everyone
im a new member and i have a question for you guys. i appreciate if you can help me
what is the difference between mullerian mimicry and batesian mimicry?

Mullerian mimicry is when two unpalatable species resemble each other
Batesian mimicry is when a palatable species resembles the appearence of an unpalatable one.

hope that helps 🙂

just to help out...this is what helped me remember the definition of batesian mimicry.

Batesian is Bullsh*t

That helps if you know the definitions, but always forget which is which...

Can u make an example of batesian mimicry?

MULLERIAN: wasps, bees, and hornets (that all sting) all have the same kind of coloring (yellow and black) to warn predators to stay back

BATESIAN: if a insect that is harmless has black and yellow coloring; also deceptive mimicry

An example might be, a palatable (could mean it's safe to consume) type of fly mimicing the yellow and black markings of an unpalatable type of fly (a dangerous one).

Hi everyone!!!!
what is the difference between mullerian mimicry, batesian mimicry and ring mimicry?

Can u make an example of batesian mimicry?

Mullerian:
It is poisonous or is unpalatable--> EX: Monarch butterfly

Batesian:
It mimics an unpalatable species--> EX: Viceroy butterfly: Color/Marking look like a Monarch but it's palatable. So like Poc stated Bates is BS!!!
