Hey guys,

So I have some schools telling me that because May 15 is a Sunday this year, the deadline is not May 16 to relinquish acceptances, but not all have made this distinction. I want to make sure this is absolutely true, because one of the schools I got into pretty late said I won't be getting an aid package until Monday, so it is kind of important that I have that information for my final decision (pretty much have my mind made up, but I just want to be sure). However, if some schools say the deadline is Sunday, the consequences could be not good, to say the least. So I would really appreciate clarification.

Thanks!

Contact all your schools and clarify this.

Congratulations on all of your acceptances!

AAMC traffic rules state that if May 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, the new deadline becomes the next business day - in this case May 16th. Someone posted the link to these rules last night; can't remember the thread though.

You got that link bookmarked or what, mauberley?

I know I do.

Sicne this thread is about multiple acceptances, I ll just ask it in here instead of making another thread. Are MD and DO application services blind. Can I hold 1 MD and 1 DO acceptance after May 15th?

I'm pretty sure they are, as it is a different central body (AMCAS vs AACOMAS) that schools use to communicate with on another to find out who exactly is holding multiple acceptances. I don't think AACOMAS holds the same May 15th deadline does it?

Thanks guys. I knew I could find the information myself, but honestly it was easier to post here.

AACOMAS does not have a deadline for when you can hold one seat. That has already essentially been pre-determined by the substantial non-refundable deposits.

That comment is likely to raise hackles. Careful. Just sayin'.
