I suspect that when an applicant applies to osteopathic school, they apply to several at a time. What happens when an application has been accepted by one (or more) schools but still has not heard from others? I know there is a deadline by which a candidate must decide, but if they still have not heard from other schools, that puts them in a bind. Is it bad to accept multiple offers as a back up until they hear from their #1 choice??

Pick your favorite and put down the deposit. Then cancel all other applications except for the one or two that you might be holding out hope for.

No. It is quite common. However, you have to fork up the deposits which are pretty expensive.

On average you will have about 2 weeks to respond as to whether you are taking the acceptance. At that point you will need to put down a non-refundable deposit (ranging from $500-$2000). So it's ideal to have interviews scheduled around the same time, which you will not necessary have much control over. The Osteopathic system is much stricter in this sense than Allopathic admissions.

Someone earlier mentioned that you could hold as many seats as you want, provided you want to front the dough. Isn't this bad as won't the other schools know whether you have accepted other offers??👍
