Before anyone gets upset, its a little family emergency and I need till middle of february to choose one school over the other. My question is are multiple deposits still legal this year? I heard otherwise from some pre-dents. Anyone who knows anything, please shed light on this.

call the 2-3-4 schools you are putting deposits down to and ask them.

Get on the phone!

anything described as a "little family emergency" is probably not an emergency at all..

either way.. i believe you have till May 1st.. i might be wrong.. risk it.... or you can call the school and show them how much of a flake you are and that they made the "right" decision

little emergency meaning about health conditions of my dad. Trust me, I will be the last person to hold spot at 2 schools. I realize how much stress one would go through. I posted out of serious concern and not for others to judge the severity of my personal problems.

I say do what you gotta do. Don't let these guys get you down- it's your decision to make and your class spot to hold if you might want it.

I second that. Do what you gotta do. You have until May to decide, that's when they send out the notice to the schools about those students holding multiple spots. You won't be inconveniencing anybody by deciding no later than February. You sound like you want be courteous to others, so just decide as quickly as you can. Anyone who says otherwise either does not believe you or is just plain unsympathetic (and probably does not belong in this profession). Good luck and I hope your dad is ok.

Yeah, because you're omniscient right?

To the OP, I say put down as many deposits as you want...you earned them.

May 1st is the deadline.

Not like I have any acceptances anyway, but just out of curiosity, what happens in May when AADSAS sends the multiple holding list to all the schools.. Lets say you wanted to go to school A, but school B got back to you first and you put a deposit down.. Now school A (your top choice)contacts you and you want to go there, so you put a deposit down... Come May, you have 2 seats being held, can you be dropped from both school A&B ?? Do they give you a notice to make a decision, do they just drop you from the class?? etc.. hows that work??

I'm not really sure exactly how it works but I think once May comes around the schools have the option of rescinding your acceptance if you have multiple deposits. SO if you get into your top choice (school A), you should accept, put your deposit down, then call school B and withdraw. Plus you have to think about the fact that schools ask for more deposits the later it gets. That means if you have deposits at multiple schools, you will have to put down an additional deposit at all of those schools if you want to keep your spots. Come May, I would think each school would give you a call and allow you a few days or even a week to make your final decision.

Again, some of this I have read, some is speculation. I would check the AADSAS or ADEA website for more info. 👍

I was just curious.. I have to get ONE acceptance first before I start worrying about the "WOES" of multiple acceptances... lol.. Just figured i'd ask, since this thread seemed to be the appropriate place for it... In the meantime i'll just post another "STONY BROOK, CALL ME... You have the number" statement and then I wont have to worry much about this... 👍

To jlicious, KOM, and lifeisgood, I want to thank you for your support and help. I appreciate the fact that you guys think I am genuine. As soon as the results come in, I will withdraw from all schools that I won't be attending.

P.S. lifeisgood, I am really happy and honored that you are going to ucla dental, and I will try my best to be there. You seem like an awesome person to be around for 4 years.
