Whats everyones view on 2-3 MCATs taken?

I took my second MCAT and was really prepared for it, but then test day came and I don't feel so hot on it. I took the June 17th, 2010 test and am highly considering taking another one once I find out my scores.

Help!

Breath! Relax! Take a week or 2 off so u don't burn out. And then if u think u did that bad u can start studying again then. 2 weeks into the studying, the month wait will be over and you'll have ur score..then you can decide how ready u r to take it again in the future.

but whatever u do, take a few days off first.

Great advice thanks man

I wish I had only taken it 3 times... Anyways, don’t freak out, especially if you don’t have your scores yet! Just wait for them to come back and then decide whether or not to retake it. Retaking won’t hurt you if you show improvement.

But it will if you don't show improvement

Never take the test unprepared and you shouldn't have that problem. If your going in on test day telling urself that u couldve done better preparation then u shouldn't be taking the test that day..

I had to take that test a few times...I showed improvement on each one and the adcoms didn't even mention the number of times I took it in the interviews.

Exactly... So it's really a crap shoot...

wow I saw your profile and I think the adcoms will give you lots of credit for your perseverance. I would not have the patience to take the mcat 5 times. Actually I think I would've given up after the first try. What did you do differently the last time?

Thanks for the kind words! 🙂

I did a lot of things differently. The biggest thing was that I stopped studying solely out of the MCAT prep books and just relearned every subject from the beginning. I decided to retake Chem I and Phys I, which helped a lot. Basically, what I learned from this process/experience is that the most valuable things to learn for the MCAT are the rules for each topic. These rules are not in the prep books... And they are easily forgotten if you haven't taken the course in many years. I studied around 10-12 hours a day for over 6 months, even on weekends... So it does take a ton of hard work and dedication. But in the end, when I realized that I wasn’t studying correctly and I really wanted to become a physician, the motivation came easily. Good luck! PM me if you need any more advice... I’ve sent a few people a detailed guide of how I studied. However, I think finding a good method is a personal thing.
